Following a car accident, West Ham striker Michail Antonio is “conscious and communicating” and in a stable condition.
West Ham claimed Antonio is “currently under close supervision at a central London hospital” in a statement released on Saturday night.
“At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect Michail and his family’s privacy,” the Premier League team continued.
“The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course.”
The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service reported that it arrived at the scene of the Saturday afternoon collision in Epping and freed a man who was stuck in his vehicle.
“Crews were called at 1.02pm this afternoon after reports of a road traffic collision involving one car,” added the statement.
By 1:45 p.m., firefighters were trying to free a guy who had been reported trapped in his automobile. The Ambulance Service was tasked with caring for the casualty.
Police in Essex said they were looking into a significant Ferrari crash and were requesting dashcam evidence and witnesses.
They claimed their “thoughts and prayers” were “with Michail, his family and friends” in a previous statement.

Antonio, a 34-year-old Jamaican, joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and has since scored 68 goals in 268 league games.

In response to West Ham’s initial statement on X, a number of clubs, including Premier League teams Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, sent their best wishes to Antonio.
The Premier League also responded, saying that “Antonio, his family, friends, and all at West Ham” are in the “thoughts and prayers” of the entire organization.
Antonio holds the Premier League scoring record for West Ham.
He scored in a 4-1 victory over Ipswich at home at the beginning of October, his only goal in 15 games for the Hammers this season.
The former Sheffield Wednesday and Reading striker started the team’s 2-1 triumph over Fiorentina in the 2023 final and was a vital part of David Moyes’ Europa Conference League-winning squad.
