Charlie Adam, the manager of Fleetwood Town, was fired less than a year into his position after the team won only one of their last 11 league games.
On Saturday, the Cod Army suffered a 2-0 loss against Barrow, their sixth loss in a run that also includes five draws.
They were also eliminated from the FA Cup at Reading last month in the opening round.
On New Year’s Eve 2023, Adam, a former midfielder for Liverpool, took over as manager for the first time, succeeding Lee Johnson.
The Lancashire team is now eight points above the relegation zone in 18th place in the table after the 39-year-old failed to stop their relegation to League Two at the end of the previous season.
“I want to personally thank Charlie for his dedication and professionalism over the last 12 months,” said Jamie Pilley, owner of Fleetwood.
Although working with him has been enjoyable, we decided that a change was required in light of recent outcomes. I want the best for him in the future.
On Boxing Day, Fleetwood will play Chesterfield at home.
