After Tottenham’s humiliating 4-3 loss to Chelsea at home, defender Cristian Romero has blasted the club’s board for not investing enough.
Cristian Romero, a defender, has criticized Tottenham’s board for not making enough investment after the team’s crushing 4-3 home loss to Chelsea.
Following the loss, Argentina international Romero told Spanish channel Telemundo Deportes that the team is lagging behind its competitors due to a lack of funding.
“Manchester City competes year, and you can observe how Chelsea and Liverpool both bolster their teams, struggle, and then re-strengthen before they start to see results. Romero stated, “Those are the things to emulate.”
“You have to realise that something is going wrong, hopefully, they [the board] realise it.”

Spurs have fired managers in the past due to similar streaks of success, but Romero thinks the board, not Postecoglou, should bear the responsibility.
Since moving here in 2021, the 26-year-old has played for five different managers, including caretakers.
Romero stated in a Spanish-translated interview that “the last few years, it’s always the same – first the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it’s always the same people responsible.”
“Hopefully they realise who the true responsible ones are and we move forward because it’s a beautiful club that, with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year.”
How did the interview with Romero take place?
Romero spoke in Spanish during a live interview on Spanish television with a Telemundo Deportes reporter, during which the defender was quizzed about Tottenham’s squad depth.
The interview aired live on television and was later released as a text piece and video clip online.
However, a link to the complete Romero interview, originally published on Telemundo Deportes’ website, now only sends viewers to a page saying:, external “We apologize. “The page you were looking for is no longer available.”
Part of the interview, in which Romero lauded Postecoglou, was extensively reported in the aftermath of the game, especially by BBC Sport.
However, the more critical statements came more slowly, with British media beginning to broadcast the translated version on Monday night.
